Jesus’s Official Facebook Page Is Categorized As A Fictional Character

According to this thread on Reddit, the official Jesus Christ Facebook page categorizes Him as a “fictional character.”

After coming across this story, we did our own research and found it to be true – kind of.  The Facebook page “in question” definitely says fictional character, but it’s hard to tell if it’s actually from Facebook.  There’s a good chance it’s actually just text and a description taken from Wikipedia.

We also found another page on Facebook for Jesus Christ – this one refers to Him properly as a Public Figure.

Too be honest, we don’t know what to think about it.  Facebook pages are hard to decipher.  It’s very plausible a random guy created both of those pages, not Facebook themselves.

Even though we’d love for you to get steaming mad and share this article on Facebook (more traffic for us :) ) – the truth is, it’s not worth getting mad over.

So if you were surprised to see that Jesus is considered a Fictional Character on a MASSIVE Facebook page (we were)…go ahead and share it with your friends.

Just don’t let it ruin your day.

After all, the Gospel survived thousands of years without Facebook.

If it really was the “Jesus Christ Official Page” wouldn’t it have to has his approval? If he approved then I’m sure there’s some bible quote about that….. I’m gonna go find it 😛

Lol that’s a great point! Let me know when you find it :)

The article (which states that virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that He existed) comes from Wikipedia, but the designation of him as a fictional character is from Facebook. You can click on edit to request that it be changed, though I don’t know how likely they are to care.

Lol I think you make a really good point @tomfrommd:disqus. I doubt Facebook cares at all.
